Privacy Policy — SafeBlock
Effective date: November 12, 2025
SafeBlock (the “App”) is developed and operated by Petricioiu Robert (“we”, “us”, “SafeBlock” or “SafeBlock Team”). This Privacy Policy explains, in clear terms, what types of information we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, your rights, and how to contact us. This policy applies to our website safeblockapp.com and the SafeBlock mobile app (listed in the App Store as SafeBlock – Adult Content Blocker).
We designed SafeBlock to minimize data collection and to operate in a way that respects your privacy. Below you will find plain-language descriptions of what we collect and why, together with technical and legal details for those who want them.
Summary — quick answers
- We store a small set of account and app state data on your device so the app works offline and quickly.
- We keep a subset of account information in our cloud database so your account and subscription can be used across devices.
- We use third-party services for authentication (Google, Apple, email) and for subscription handling (RevenueCat).
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs unless we tell you first and update this policy.
- You can delete your account and all related data from the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting support at support@safeblockapp.com.
1. What information we collect (in plain language)
Information stored on your device
To make the app fast and usable offline, SafeBlock stores certain settings and state on your device. This includes things like your account settings, filter preferences, whether the content filter is enabled, and counters or simple usage markers that let the app show accurate status and history locally. These items stay on your device unless you choose to delete your account or uninstall the app.
Information stored in the cloud
We store a limited set of account-related data in our secure cloud database so you can use SafeBlock on multiple devices and so your subscription and accountability settings stay in sync. Examples of cloud-stored information include your account identifier, email (if provided), membership/subscription status, and the fact that you have opted into accountability features. We also keep timestamps or simple counts related to feature usage (for example: when the filter was active or when a user attempted to access blocked content). These records are used only for account functionality, support, and to help maintain correct behavior across devices.
Sensitive or usage-specific items
In human terms, SafeBlock may record limited information about attempts to access adult content (for example: the time of an attempt and how many times the attempt occurred). This information is used only to provide accountability features, to show accurate streak/progress indicators, and to troubleshoot issues if you contact support. We do not share this information publicly.
2. How we authenticate and process payments
You can create an account using email/password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication or the respective identity provider. Subscription purchases and receipts are managed by RevenueCat; RevenueCat handles payment processing through the App Store and stores purchase records necessary for billing and subscription validation.
3. Third-party services we use
To operate the app we use a small set of trusted third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication & Firestore — for secure user authentication and cloud data storage.
- Google Sign-In — optional login using Google accounts.
- Sign in with Apple — optional login using Apple ID.
- RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
- Safari Content Blocker Extension — runs locally in Safari and does not send browsing content to our servers.
Note: We do not currently collect analytics data via SDKs (e.g. Firebase Analytics). If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this policy and explain what is collected and why.
4. Why we collect data (legal bases & purpose)
We collect and process personal data for the following legitimate purposes:
- Contract performance: to provide the app’s core features (account, cross-device sync, content filtering, subscription validation).
- Consent: where required (for example, agreeing to Terms & GDPR consent during onboarding).
- Legitimate interests: for security, fraud prevention, and to respond to user support requests.
5. Data retention and deletion
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the services you use and to comply with legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data directly from the app: open Settings → Delete Account and follow the prompts. Deleting your account removes your records from our servers and, where applicable, from third-party services that we use for authentication and subscriptions. If you prefer, you can also contact support@safeblockapp.com to request data removal or to ask questions about retention.
6. Your rights (EU GDPR and general)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or otherwise covered by GDPR, you have rights including access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@safeblockapp.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
7. Children
SafeBlock is offered as a general lifestyle app (App Store rating: 4+). Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children's use of the app. If you believe your child’s personal information has been collected without your consent, please contact us at support@safeblockapp.com.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Access to cloud data is restricted and secured using industry-standard practices. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Our cloud providers operate internationally. If your data is transferred or stored outside your country, we rely on standard contractual safeguards and the providers' security measures to ensure adequate protection. If you are in the EEA and want specifics about transfer mechanisms, contact support@safeblockapp.com.
10. Cookies and the website
Our website (safeblockapp.com) uses minimal cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and to remember preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. If we make material changes affecting your rights, we will provide notice through the app or by email where appropriate.
